Types
- Automatic — torque converter, easiest
- Manual — clutch pedal, most durable + fun
- CVT — belt, smooth MPG but fluid-sensitive
- DCT — dual-clutch, fast but pricey
Save your gearbox
- Fluid 30k–60k mi — pink good, brown bad
- Full stop before Reverse/Drive
- Don't ride clutch, don't neutral-coast in auto
- Fix leaks early — low fluid burns clutches
